My Pumpkin week continues.

You know everyone makes Pumpkin Bread, well almost. This Pumpkin Bread is so simple in taste. Without all the fuss of add In's, like nuts and cream cheese. It stands just on it's own comforting flavor. Perfect with a cup of coffee or tea. It'...

If your going to look for Sea Glass, you are going to have to put your glass eye on. I know, I have to do it every time I go looking for Sea Glass. First off you have to train your eye to look for the glass amongst all the tiny shell pieces and rocks and sand. Because...

My food, my story

Our family cannot have a family get together (unless it's pasta) without this Mac and Cheese. It's just gotta be there on the table. We all expect it. And I think most of us would be very sad if it wasn't there. It's soft in the inside and we like it...

Browned Butter Sugar Cookies

They taste like toffee, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  One of my favorites. First you brown the butter to bring out a nutty flavor and smell. Just until the butter is golden brown. These cookies are not hard to make a...

Styling my food

Why I ever thought I could do it in the first place is beyond me. Styling food that is. You need to cook your food before the sun goes down. Best light. Get the food on a white or pretty plate, no drips, and make sure it looks beautiful. And then ask pe...

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
