It makes 2 ! One to keep for yourself and one to give away. But I have to say, I wish I had kept both. It even freezes well. I really only froze one small piece, for a day. We couldn't stop eating it with our morning coffee. So the piece in the freezer didn't last long...

Well, if you are a Popcorn Freak like me and the Cast Iron pan is sitting on your cook top form last nights dinner drying. Well might as well give it a try. I had never used it before for my, almost every other day Popcorn fix. Today I did. I usually use a sauce pan. O...

These Plums are so small they look like cherries. They are tart and a little sweet. Surrounded by a silky custard type cake with browned butter.

Oh, and the curst is more like an almond shortbread cookie. I mixed two recipes together and came up with this. Sometime...

It all started with the pot. A friend in our little town put on FB that she had this pot for sale, well, my friend Heidi jumped on it first. The pot is beautifu

This is the kinda sauce you make today for tomorrow. Just think, tomorrow all you do is boil the pasta. All the flavors will mingle overnight making for a hardy dish with delicious flavor.  Add some garlic bread and a salad, of course wine. You got it!

This is a cinnamon sented dough that is covered with butter, pecans, shredded apple and more cinnamon. Baked to perfection, and all it needs is a hot cup of coffee. This is what I wanted for my Birthday bread, so I made it. The next morning I sliced it and toasted it i...

Still using the old oven, but I think I'll go buy a new one for my birthday. I'll miss this one though. It's been good to me and I have learned a lot about using electric cook tops. I find as you age you know you can learn anything new it just takes time and..... wait...

Meatless Monday!

Snug as bugs in a rug. I know I have said this before about other food. It's just that whenever I squeeze cute food tight in a pan, that line comes to me. And I hate bugs, well in my house anyway. I was looking at the Butter Nut Squash that I had bought...

It's not to often that I make Meat Loaf, but when Chuck wants a Meat Loaf Sandwich he has to have a Meat Loaf dinner first. Next day is the sandwich. Yes, of course he was happy. So dust off that, as I call it, a Meat Loaf Pan, AKA bread loaf pan. And make a meat loaf....

ABOUT ME

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
