This is a simple and tasty little cake perfect with a cup of hot tea. I love the very different layers. I think a strawberry cake would be nice on top of the brownie also. Try it with different cakes. Enjoy

So far I have lots of desserts from friends coming to dinner. Pumpkin Pie by me, Cranberry Cheese Cake by Laura, Apple Pie by a different Laura and a Key Lime Pie by Mari. So really we don't need a Turkey or all the other stuff that goes along with it right? You all kn...

On the sweeter side of things. Comfort in a pretty glass.

I was looking for something different this time. I had the dried fruit and the coconut milk so I though, that sounds good together. I didn't use a lot of sugar, less than most recipes because the dried fruit is...

And that's my Meat Pie story.

This is a great little hand held Appetizer for your Holiday Party. Make ahead and freeze.

I know I have gone crazy with the little hand pies. So here I go again, but this time it's Meat Hand Pies. I used my Jalapeño crust and put just a tin...

I am calling this Book Club Coffee Cake because this is what I brought to the Book Club, it's a pot luck situation, I have made this many times before and it always turns out great. Make sure you bring your ingredients to room temperature before you start the cake. It'...

Do not try this at home. I thought the fire was just fine the way it was, but oh no, Chuck had to make it bigger and hotter.  I just think he loves to do that, and it's not a good idea at all. But, it's his dinner tonight, not mine. This BBQ was made by "Mark the Welde...

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
