Grandma Marie called them Poor Man Meatballs and I loved them the first time I had them around 1973. She would put her sauce on them and serve with pasta and I was in heaven. I have made them many times before but this time I thought I would get a little modern and use...

Wow these are deliriously delicious crackers although they look like a cookie these are going to go with my lentil soup I made today. I didn't have any crackers or good bread to go along so I made these crackers. Glad I did and so is Chuck. But don't mistake them for s...

Sometimes I want something a little sweet for breakfast but not to sweet and this bread fit the bill. It's got apples and pecans so it's healthy right? I even toasted some of the slices one morning and we both liked it that way too with butter. The...

I had all this in the fridge so I thought dip. I had just bought a baguette and I thought crostini with this dip on top for lunch, Chuck suggested adding some lemon after he did his taste test and sure enough that was exactly what it needed. He also wanted me add a jal...

Tangy and just a little sweet from the Chocolate, these little bites make me want to lay on a raft in the pool and eat Bons Bons all afternoon. Easy recipe until you get to the scraping of the frozen yogurt into sorta ball size bites. You have to let the yogurt melt a...

I cannot find good Pita Chips in our stores so I make my own and they really do turn out good. You can use the Pita Bread to make sandwiches with or cut into triangles and add sea salt, pepper, chile flacks and whatever you like and bake them until crisp and serve with...

This is a thin and very delicious cake, it tastes like it has almond paste in it. The whole thing is made in the food processor and comes together very quickly. And it's so pretty with the plums on top.

2 Tablespoons red currant or seedless wild berry jam. I used wild b...

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
