I always make the biggest mess but I usually sorta clean as I go so I don't have to much to clean up after. But today I just made a mess.

I won't lie to you this recipe has no sugar in it all, I added 1/4 cup just because I thought I should and I put some sprinkling su...

I was craving Cinnamon Raisin Toast so I had to make the bread, cool thing is you get 3 nice loafs of bread. Freeze one eat one and give one away if you can. I added just a handful more of raisins to the already great recipe. It has lots of cinnamon and sugar so to...

I haven't used this 11 inch pan before today for a Quiche and I think it worked out better than my pie pan. This is what I will use from now on, it makes a thin quiche and that is the way I like it. And I think the crust tastes better too. Well, it could be all the jal...

I know this is a strange sounding combination but the passion fruit it very subtle. So not sure why I put it in the dough in the first place except that I had 3 beautiful fruits on my counter Purple Orange and Yellow. The smell of flowers in the air. That's what...

Here I go again trying new ways to use my Sourdough Starter and here it is. Quiche in a tart pan. It's cheesy and it has onions, mushrooms and thyme, parmesan is in the crust along with the sourdough. I added Arugula on the top and a few chili flakes for the win. So fa...

After 44 years of marriage and making terrible pancakes every time I try a new recipe hoping this will be the one, I have found my favorite. And it's not like I can't cook or anything, it's just pancakes. I will look no more. One thing though you have to have sourdough...

Oh Man are these ever good. You start the day before, please don't get scared away!! They are worth it. Really, all your doing the day before is mixing up the dough and then letting it sit all night on the counter with a cover on top. The next morning you knead a littl...

I used my homemade sourdough starter and no extra yeast. I am just going to show you the bread and tell you where to get the recipe, here I will be upfront. Not easy and it's a long day of waiting and I started part of this the night before. But what a fun science proj...

Sometimes I want something a little sweet for breakfast but not to sweet and this bread fit the bill. It's got apples and pecans so it's healthy right? I even toasted some of the slices one morning and we both liked it that way too with butter. The...

This sounded strange and so I had to try it with my simple chile and a variation on Paula Deens Waffle which would be good with just syrup or butter and honey, add jalapeños to the waffles too for extra kick just chop them up fine. I used jack cheese on top. I am still...

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
