I love the layers and the way the sweet dough smells and it cuts so nice into my messy squares, I layer into the pan and let it rise again and it always turns out so good. So don't sweat the measurements and enjoy the flavor.  I can never for the life of me make anythi...

Got this for a wedding present and I wish I knew who gave it to us all those years ago.

Mashed banana folded in egg whites and heavy cream and this old waffle iron from our wedding, still wish I knew who gave this to us.

And this cool old plate that my sister gave me m...

After 44 years of marriage and making terrible pancakes every time I try a new recipe hoping this will be the one, I have found my favorite. And it's not like I can't cook or anything, it's just pancakes. I will look no more. One thing though you have to have sourdough...

The Orange Curd tastes like a dream.....sickle. As you can see my Oranges are green, they never turn orange on the outside but in the inside they are a little orange, and my lemons or limes are green. But they sure have flavor and they make my Orange Curd taste so good...

The skillet was still out from the skillet french bread and I wanted corn bread. I have been craving it since I brought some corn meal back from California. I made some mustard greens and I just wanted corn bread with them.  You know I love spice, so jalapeños had to g...

I'm jumping in. I'm not your mother's blogger, oh wait I am. So I thought at 67 I know a little about cooking and baking. I am ready to share my sweet life here in the jungle of Costa Rica. My home away from home. My outside cooking area, eating area, living area. The "rancho" as it's called here in Costa Rica. I live here with my surfer husband of 44 years. We are retired  from California, born and raised.  I cook quite often. If I get bored, I bake and then try to give my goods away. I also sell baked goods to some cafes and folks around here. We really don't need to eat all that sugar.

I learned to cook from my husband's Grandma, Marie, who was from Italy. So of course I love to make Italian food and we love Mexican food also. But I will try to cook anything.  Everything I make has a piece of Grandma Marie in it.  More about her later.
