Putting on my sea glass eye

If your going to look for Sea Glass, you are going to have to put your glass eye on. I know, I have to do it every time I go looking for Sea Glass. First off you have to train your eye to look for the glass amongst all the tiny shell pieces and rocks and sand. Because this kind of jumble of rocks, sand and shell is the place where I look for Sea Glass. First off you need to slow your breathing down and walk slow, focus. I have to take my sunglasses off. I need to see the sparkle of the glass. Green, Brown, Clear, sometimes Blue, rarely Red and my favorite Sea Foam Green. Once in awhile a yellow one will show up. The other day I found a clear piece with the word Cola in red on it. To me thats a find. If I find a piece that is sharp, I through it into the blow hole, so it goes back to sea, to get smooth and rounded. I really try not to pick up shells anymore. The crabs need them more than I do. Besides I have enough. And Sea Glass, well really it's just trash. Did I say that? Oh, but when I find a smooth and rounded piece, to me it's a treasure.

Check out this recipe for Sea Glass Candy. It really looks like Seaglass. It's from Clinton Kelly the Chew

This is how it looks on the beach.

My collection.

This is the candy I found, looks so real and pretty. Haven't tried it. It's pure sugar. Might be good.

SEA GLASS CANDY

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup

  • 1 teaspoon blueberry oil flavoring

  • blue food coloring

  • powdered sugar

  • In a sauce pot over medium heat, add the water, sugar and corn syrup and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring continuously until the mixture has reached 300°F.

  • Remove the pot from the heat and working quickly mixing in the blue food coloring and peppermint oil flavoring, stirring until fully combined. Add the amount of food coloring depending on desired colored. More food coloring will lead to a darker blue candy.

  • Pour the sugar mixture onto a silicone lined baking sheet. Once the candy has fully cooled, break up the candy into pieces using a meat mallet.

  • To serve, dust half the pieces of candy with powdered sugar. Tips - If you can't fine blueberry flavoring, substitute with your favorite flavor oil or extract, such as peppermint. - Serve the candy as a party favor.
