My Buns, for Hamburgers or Portabella Mushrooms Burgers.

Wow these buns were so easy to make, I am not kidding. Of course you have to consider the wait time, but that gives you time to do something else. Right? I used a different recipe for theses buns it's Modified from King Arthur's site and I don't have King Arthur flour here in Costa Rica I have, well check out the picture. It works just fine. I used Bamboo Smoked Sesame Seeds and Garlic Sesame Seeds on top. I will be making these buns every time I need buns. I bet they will make an awesome sandwich. They sure smell good too. Just made the sandwich for Chuck with the leftover buns, chicken and avocado, he loved it. Could be a Sunday project, make someone happy.

Hamburger Buns, or Portabella Mushrooms Burger Buns

This is the flour I use here and it works out great for me every time.

Rise and shine it's time to punch down and make into little buns.

I never seem to cut them even, so I just tear off a piece form the large ones and add it to the small ones when I roll them into ball. Never said I was perfect.

Eight balls makes eight beautiful burger buns. Or in my case today Portabella Mushrooms burgers with tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles and 1000 Island dressing for me. Sorry no picture we had to eat, and the light was not good outside for photos. Man you should have seen them. Or just make some yourself, you will not regret it.

You need to flatten them out just a little bit, like to 3 inches wide. Now you need to let them rise for 1 more hour. It's hard to wait, I know.

Puffed to bun perfection. Now brush with the melted butter and add seeds or not. I used bamboo smoked sesame seeds and garlic sesame seeds. I left off the seeds on two of them.

Make sure you use a light hand when brushing on the butter. You don't want to deflate them now.

They smell so so good. Eat!

3/4 to 1 cup lukewarm water, it should be about 115 degrees.

2 Tablespoons butter, room temp

1 egg

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar, I used a little less

1 1/4 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon instant yeast

Now this applied to me for sure, for best results, use the smaller amount of water if you live in a humid climate like Costa Rica, for dry climate use the whole amount.

3 Tablespoons of melted butter for the tops.

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl, I know this did seem strange to me but I did it. Mix by hand like me or us a mixer.

Knead the dough for about 8 minutes, cover and let rise for 2 hours or until double in size. Make a soft, smooth dough.

Gently deflate dough, divide into 8 pieces and shape into round balls, flatten to about 3inches across. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets.

Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until puffy looking.

Brush the buns with the melted butter, make sure you use a light touch with the brush. This is why I use a small paint brush.

At this point I put on sesame seeds, I used bamboo smoked and garlic.

Bake at 375 degrees for 18 minutes until golden. When you remove them form the oven you can brush more butter on top. Watch the seeds, if you use them.
