Deby Hogue
Apple Bomb

As you can see I used what I had for the apples I had two green and two red and they both worked just fine. I made these to take to our friends who where staying right on the beach in a cool old house. I loved it there. I wanted to stay. After a wonderful dinner of Seared Tuna, beautiful green beans awesome salad and goat cheese on baguette with sauteed green and red bell papers with onion. I brought roasted potatoes and the Apple Bombs. Wonderful food and wonderful friends always make me happy.
No real recipe, but I will try to tell you what I did and you can add or change anything you like.
4 apples medium to small, I used the big apples and you will need more dough if you use big ones
crust
cimmamon
brown sugar
chopped pecans
oats
butter
Crust
1- 1/2 Cups four
1/4 cup ice water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cube butter, very cold and cut into 1inch pieces
1 Tablespoon sugar
Put the flour, salt, butter, sugar in food processor and pulse 8 times
Add ice water and pulse until everything comes together, right before it forms a ball. Put in plastic bag or plastic wrap and smash into a disk. Chill for 1/2 to 1 hour.
Core and peel the apples wrap them in crust.
put a pat of butter in the hole add a spoonful of oats and a pinch of brown sugar and pecans and some more butter, push it down.
Make a sauce of 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water with 2 Tablespoons of butter in a pan and heat to melt the butter. Pour over apples and sprinkle with cinnamon. While checking to see if your apples are cooking and you see you need more sauce, make a quick patch and pour over the apples. you can do it in the microwave
roll out the dough and wrap the apples in the crust, you could roll out snakes like pieces and wrap the apples with them. Place in a pan you sprayed with cooking spray
pour over the sauce and bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown and a knife goes into the apples easily.
